Is this you?
The people who I love working with tend to love working with me right back. (Could this be you?)
If you’re like most of my clients, you’re bright, creative and openhearted. And though you may arrive feeling a bit out of sorts, you still have your sense of humor intact. Laughter (the joyful kind) is the lifeboat of your sanity.
You’re here because you know your stuck-in-a-rut patterns are getting in the way of being as healthy and happy as you want to be.
Maybe you know a thing or two about health and wellness, but you’ve been so busy putting everything and everyone else first that your own well-being has taken a back seat.
Perhaps you received some iffy lab-results, a less than stellar report from your last annual physical, or a midlife wake-up call.
Or maybe you’re tired of feeling spent, stressed and worn-out (when you’d rather feel energized, inspired, and balanced.)
Whatever it is, you know you want to get things rolling in the well-being department. And even though you might be used to getting things done on your own (directing a business, cooking for a 10-person dinner party and installing crown molding in the living room all at once), you’ve realized that life would be so much lighter if you had someone who really knows the ropes guiding, supporting, and encouraging you. That’s where I come in!
For starters…
You’re smart, motivated, and ready to make health and happiness a top priority.
Like my current clients, you’re a rockin’ professional, creative type, or multi-tasking super-mom or dad. You’ve got an appetite for learning and a readiness to do the awesome, fun, challenging work it’ll take to create a more nourishing life. (Good! It’s so worth it.)
And you could use a little help because…
You’re nutritionally challenged.
And you’re not alone. A lot of people feel overwhelmed by all the conflicting messages out there (less carbs! more carbs! no snacking! all-day snacking!) and would give their left arm to find a way to eat that works for them. Maybe you’re a self-defined “foodie” who has a hard time reconciling your love of food with the desire to fit into your jeans. You might know that a cleaner, more nutritious diet will help you wake up and feel alive again. Maybe you’d like to have a healthier wellness routine, but you’re not sure where to start. Or perhaps you tend to start, but soon find yourself back to your old habits.
You have a particular health concern.
Many of my clients find their way to my door because “The Doc is Still In.” (I practiced as a primary care doc for 8 years, and I keep my license and education alive, because I love it). They come for general issues like exhaustion or feeling stressed and run-down, to specific health concerns like metabolic syndrome, heart disease, or cancer prevention. And sometimes, it’s about healthy aging: my clients in midlife want to know what they can do now to age “better” and prevent future health problems. (It might be liberating to hear that you don’t have to age like the status quo. If you want to feel refreshed, inspired and profoundly healthy, we can get you there with a personalized plan that meets and evolves with your needs.)
You’re struggling with your weight.
Oy. About 60% of the population is sighing along with you right now. Some of my clients will tell me they’ve got it together in all areas of their lives, except one. Losing “the weight” is the final frontier. Like them, you’ve had enough of everything that hasn’t worked: deprivation diets, “lite cuisine” and slimming shakes. You know the basic principles of weight loss (eat less, move more) but somehow, it just won’t take. The whole process feels like an endless struggle. You have a sense that losing weight and keeping it off probably requires deeper work than just trying the latest insane diet, but you don’t know what to do. You DO know you’re ready to team up with an all around weightloss-ologist to help you navigate the final distance. (If goodness, self-respect and kindness sound like ideal traveling companions along the way to weight loss, I can help. And if you’re up for leaving struggle and sacrifice behind, boy can I help.)
You need motivation, discipline, or gentle accountability to get where you want to go.
Many of us never learned how to set realistic goals for the short and long term (I want to climb Mt. Everest next month! I want to lose 10 lbs by my birthday next week!) Maybe you could use a little help coming up with realistic, purposeful goals, and laying out the small steps needed to head in your valued direction. And maybe you know you’d just do better in a partnership, where you’ll have someone outside of yourself checking in with you, encouraging you through the steps you set out, helping you dust off your pants if you take a spill, and supporting you all along as you maintain your commitments to yourself.
You want to be fundamentally happier.
Deep down, you know a sense of well-being goes beyond eating well and exercising. You want to reshape your inner landscape to make room for more peace of mind, lightness, sparkle, openness, warmth, and love. In short, you’d rather flourish than languish. (Hurray!)
Still with me? Yay! (I’m smiling.) If you see yourself below, we’ll have Wonder Twin powers together.
You know that no matter what new dream or habit you choose to cultivate, you’ll also be growing your soul.
Of course you want to lose those fifteen/thirty pounds, or get that new business off the ground, or finish a triathlon, or whatever your new habit or dream is. Your goals have merit and will reap distinct rewards—improved health, more independence… a tighter rear end (wink!). But you are open to look at the qualities you are cultivating as you work this change: resolve, self-trust, patience, humor, forgiveness, gratitude. These soul-qualities are the real reward of change.
You’re willing to invest time, energy, and aspiration.
Good! Because you’ll need all three to do the work.
And you’re OK with stretching yourself.
You know your body and mind are made to be worked a little. And you prefer to exercise them both. When you don’t, you feel stale.
You’re cool with being somewhat of a rebel when it comes to healthy living.
Let’s face it: our Western culture isn’t set up to foster enduring health and balance. (Have you ever wondered why they have candy bars at the hardware store check-out?) You understand your health depends on you identifying and acting on what you can change. You are willing to work with the resistance your mind may create, and you’re ready to source all the lovely goodness you have inside.
You are willing to look
You may be a yoga student, or a yoga student wannabe, or have some interest in cultivating presence. You are willing (or curious) to practice getting still, paying attention on purpose, and connecting with yourself on a consistent basis.
Sound like you?
Excellent! If you’d like to join the Basic Goodness community of clients, I’m SO delighted to welcome you.
In fact, you’re already here.
Welcome!
Let’s begin.
If you’re ready to make personal change happen, I would LOVE to work with you in private coaching sessions or in one of my local events. Testimonials.
